Quebec payroll has more components than anywhere else in Canada. Before the first pay run you need payroll accounts with both Revenu Québec and the CRA, and registration with the CNESST.
Each pay run deducts QPP, QPIP, EI and federal and Quebec income tax, and the employer adds its own contributions, including the Health Services Fund. Remittances go to Revenu Québec for Quebec amounts and to the CRA for federal ones.
At year-end, every employee receives an RL-1 as well as a T4. Getting the set-up right once saves a great deal of correction later.
